ADVICE WORKER, COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT (CE)
PURPOSE OF JOB:
To work as part of a vibrant team, in a busy office environment,
providing efficient and effective advice and advocacy services to
people who contact Threshold with housing problems, with an emphasis
on helping people to help themselves.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
_WORKING WITH SERVICE USERS_
* Establish full details of query
* Explore with an advise caller of all options and their possible
effects
* Help caller choose course of action
* Provide caller with accurate information using agency information
resources
* Support callers in taking action themselves
* If appropriate, undertake follow-up work on behalf of caller,
including advocacy and mediation or referral to other agency
* Keep accurate records of work with clients
_DEVELOPMENT, TRAINING AND ADMINISTRATION_
* To keep up-to-date with information resources and technology and
with relevant legislation, policies and practice
* In consolation with other staff members, identify staff training
and development needs
* To contribute to Thresholds research and lobbying function;
particularly by identifying queries which have wider implications
* To attend training sessions
* To participate in staff meetings
* To maintain and develop links with other relevant agencies to
share in the necessary administrative and domestic tasks (including
updating information, filing, compiling statistics)
_SKILLS REQUIREMENTS_
* A level of basic IT skills to include Word and operation of a busy
email account is essential
* A commitment to customer service and willingness to help people
experiencing housing problems
* Communication skills both written and verbal
* Team work
* Commitment to learning and developing

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT WITH THE NATIONAL ADVOCACY TEAM AT THRESHOLD
PURPOSE OF JOB:
To provide essential administrative support to Threshold?s National
Advocacy Team. This team is engaged in advocating for policy and
legislative change to ensure all have access to secure, affordable,
good quality housing, as well as conducting research into the housing
issues facing private renters. This is an excellent opportunity for
anyone wishing to work in a team involved in influencing and improving
housing policy in Ireland.
REPORTS TO: National Advocacy Manager
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
_NATIONAL ADVOCACY TEAM_
* Maintain and update relevant mailing lists
* Deal with enquiries by phone, email and other
* Assist in the electronic filing of documentation
* Assist in the scheduling of meetings, sending out agendas and
taking minutes
* Assist with periodic surveys of clients
* Assist in the organising of events
* Gather information (online or in publications) on various topics
as requested
* Any other relevant tasks
_HEAD OFFICE INCLUDING FUNDRAISING AND HR_
* To support the fundraising team through the processing of post and
donations received in response to campaigns.
* Input donations to our donor database and update database where
required.
* Provide administrative support to HR administrator.
* Share in the necessary administrative and domestic tasks
(including updating information, filing, and compiling statistics) to
assist head office support front line services.
* Deal with enquiries by phone, email and other
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal
* A good level of basic IT skills to include Word and Email
* Familiarity with carrying out internet searches to find
information
* Ability to follow instruction as well as act on own initiative
